Cody Rhodes Recounts Learning That His Dad Dusty Rhodes Was A ‘Flying Colonel’

There are Cody lies and Dusty legends. Cody Rhodes recounted a Dusty Rhodes legend.
Speaking to Jacob Heyman on The Roundtable, Cody explained how he found out that his father, Dusty, was a Flying Colonel.
“WWE, I used to be so mad at this, would fly my dad coach. Don’t ever put me in charge of WWE because of these legends; that ain’t happening. They used to fly my dad coach, and I wasn’t going to let that happen because I needed him to go to Sacramento to help me in angle with Rey Mysterio. A few weeks before that flight, we’re all sitting there, and my financial manager is talking to me, and my dad walked by. We’re talking airline status. [My financial manager] is telling me, ‘You’re at diamond again. Just keep spending on that Amex. My dad walked by, and my manager said, ‘Dusty, you have to have so many air miles. What is your status?’ He said, ‘Colonel. Flying Colonel.’
“They booked him coach; we’re headed to Sacramento, and I wasn’t going to have it, so I upgraded his ticket, and I was not going to say I did it; it just was. Dusty Rhodes is flying first class with his son. I went to scan my boarding pass, and the lady said, ‘Thank you for being a Delta Diamond, Mr. Runnels.’ ‘Hell yeah.’ Scans my dad’s ticket. ‘Oh my gosh. We have to take care of you, don’t we, Mr. Runnels?’ ‘Yes, you do.’ I’m like, ‘What the fuck?’ ‘There will be someone to greet you when you get to Sacramento. We did not know you were going to be on this flight. I’m thinking, ‘Is she a fan of wrestling?’ We sat down on that flight, and I said, ‘What was that?’ Slid his boarding pass over. Right where it says Delta Diamond, it says in the corner, Flying Colonel. It was a defunct Delta miles program. I didn’t think it was real. I thought it was legend. It wasn’t.”
The Flying Colonel program was Delta Air Lines’ very first customer loyalty and recognition program, created originally in 1940.
