Cody Rhodes Says Wade Barrett’s ‘Superman Meet Superman’ Call At WWE SummerSlam 2025 Was A ‘Gift Of A Job Well Done’

Cody Rhodes talks about Wade Barrett’s commentary.

At WWE SummerSlam 2025, Cody Rhodes defeated John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Wade Barrett and Michael Cole were on commentary for the show.

Speaking on the Double Coverage Podcast, Rhodes discussed WWE commentators. During the conversation, he also recalled a line from Wade Barrett during his SummerSlam 2025 match against John Cena.

“Wade Barrett said something at SummerSlam that I would have paid him to say had I thought of it. But the fact that he said it on his own was so validating to me. I kicked out of John Cena’s AAs and maybe it was off the top and he just said-he couldn’t believe I kicked out and he said, ‘Superman meet Superman.’ I thought, ‘Oh that’s the gift of a job well done.’ If you can get your fans to believe, your commentary to believe, the boys to believe.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Rhodes talked about being nervous to ask Triple H about leaving WWE to film Street Fighter. Fans can read his full comments by clicking here.
