Erick Stevens Stepping Away From Wrestling Again

Erick Stevens is once again stepping away from wrestling.

Stevens posted on social media that he is stepping away from wrestling, putting an end to his comeback. Stevens admitted that even though this felt like his last run, “you just never know.”

From Stevens:

After plenty of reflection and deliberation, I’ve decided it’s time to step away again.

In the interest of transparency, I’ve been struggling mentally since March. I’ve stuck it out as long as I have because I didn’t want to disappoint anybody. I figured it was just a funk and I’d snap out of it at some point.

It didn’t work out that way.

As much as I love my friends, my family is always my first priority. The time away from them, the mental stress, the physical fatigue… Even a weekend or two a month takes a big toll.

We’re moving to Texas this year, Summer vacation is about to begin, and we’re going to start home schooling our kids. My family needs me far more than pro wrestling does.

This comeback run defied all of my expectations. I returned at 43 years old, hung with some of the best in the business, and got to travel the world.

Thank you to Tommy and every student at The Dark Arts Gym for getting this whole crazy experience started. Without that facility and the people in it, I would have never been able to do what I did this last year.

Thank you to@deadlockpro for giving me a shot. You boys know I’ll bleed black and orange forever.

Thank you to all of the promotions who brought me in, all of my opponents, and all of the fans who supported this run.

Pro wrestling owes me nothing. I just hope that I’m leaving it better than I found it.

I’ve learned to never say “goodbye” in this business. Did that a couple times and looked like a dummy when I came back. Even though this feels like my last run, you really just never know. With that being said, I’ll leave you with this:

See you later.

Stevens began wrestling in 2003 and was part of ROH from 2007-2010. He stopped wrestling in 2010 before returning in 2019. He took another hiatus in 2021 before returning in 2025.

His last match took place at New Texas Pro Wrestling on May 24.
