Indie Wrestlers Weigh In On The Indies Dying

There has been much discussion about the death of the indies after PRODUCE and AIW announced hiatuses.
Their hiatuses aren’t the first in the past few years with DEADLOCK Pro, Prestige, and others going on hiatus or losing a venue. The topic of the indies being “dead” seems to come up every couple of years.
Since the indies are dead again, independent wrestlers have given their thoughts on where things stand.
This sucks for a lot of people but can we finally admit that “the indies are alive and well” is just not true?
A few companies can draw a good crowd, & should be proud, but that blanket statement is a lie.
Making a living on bookings alone is harder than it’s been in years https://t.co/Qd7Ifb4rDK

Local indies are alive and well
Super indies are very difficult to run on long term because the budget is too high with the price of flights plus aew and wwe are pretty much doing the super indie show now and nobody can compete with that https://t.co/RCFF12qsLn— Vinnie Massaro (@snoringelbow) November 2, 2026
I’ve been tagged in a lot of “how can an indie company stay in the green nowadays” discussions this week. Mystery Wrestling is kind of a beast of its own, so our model may not work for everyone. In my opinion though, here are things I think would help most indie shows stay alive.

Half the people with an opinion on indie wrestling dying I wouldn’t let pay me money to work for the other half should sell their boots and start buying tickets. If they did the indies would thrive. Pro Wrestling is eternal. It’s “bad” right now cause we’ve let too much trash in.

Indie wrestling will always be around. It's up to companies to put out a good product to get you, the fans, to invest your money and time with us.
There are dozens of good/fun places in the US. We've worked with some of them or shares talent.
Support indie wrestling.

I really enjoy my “Bill of Fights” column with @OfficialPWI. I enjoy highlighting the bright spots of indie wrestling around the world. I hope you check it out!
And in my opinion, the reports of indie wrestling’s demise have been greatly exaggerated.

I love that everyone says indie wrestling is dead or this or that when really this all about having fun and making money if you can. If you’re not doing either that sounds like a you problem
Indie wrestling is alive and well, and is also the shit. Thanks!
