Jake Roberts Recalls Having His Snake Bite Him So Randy Savage Would Believe It Had No Venom

Jake Roberts recalls the build up to his infamous segment with Randy Savage where his snake would bite ‘Macho Man.’

During Randy Savage and Jake Roberts’ iconic rivalry with one another, one of their most infamous segments would include a beaten down and tied up in the ropes Savage being bitten by Roberts’ snake.

While speaking during The Mick And Kenny Show, Jake Roberts would recall the segment, calling Savage a ‘wussy’ for having him be bitten by the snake first.

“It was real, but it had its venom sacs removed and still had teeth. Because cobras don’t have fangs. They have teeth. So they can chew on you. But I let it bite me before the show. I had to do that because Macho Man was such a wussy. He was such a wuss that he didn’t trust me, and he’s like… ‘Maybe it is and maybe it isn’t.'”

Savage also shared how he wound up the snake to bite Savage in the segment.

“I slapped it. I turned my back to Macho Man so he wouldn’t see it, and I popped him upside the head, and boy, did he open up.”
