Jeff Cobb Thought He Was Going To Be Jeff Cobb In WWE
Jeff Cobb made his WWE debut at Backlash 2025, helped Jacob Fatu retain the United States Championship.
Cobb was renamed JC Mateo when he joined the new Bloodline, later known as the MFTs, with Solo Sikoa.
Speaking to Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Cobb revealed that he thought he would still use his name in WWE.
“I thought I was going to be Jeff Cobb because Michael Cole called me that. ‘If you called me Jeff Cobb for the whole world to hear, and next week it’s a random change, that’s a little weird.’ I don’t understand it. I get they want to control everything. You can use my name, that’s totally fine. I don’t mind. In fact, use my name. I tried so hard. The week leading up to Backlash, I was like, ‘My name is Jeff. Cobb is gonna kill you.’ They didn’t want to go with that. I get it, but I don’t understand why they said it on commentary, but the next week it was totally different. It’s whatever,” he said.
Cobb was released by WWE in April.
He is currently a free agent.
