Jim Ross Set To Undergo Brain Surgery

The latest update on Jim Ross.

At the tail end of June, Ross was allowed to go home after a hospital visit that lasted well over 30 days. According to PWInsider, he was originally hospitalized due to a fall.

On the latest episode of Grilling JR, the legendary commentator first said that he’s feeling pretty good at the moment.

“I feel pretty good. I’m getting better every day, but I still got a ways to go. I can’t drive yet. I’m cutting back on my appearances. I got one big one coming up in Minneapolis in a few weeks. I’m just battling.”

Continuing on, Ross revealed that he’s set to undergo brain surgery.

“I’m getting ready to have another surgery, brain surgery this time. That’s going to be an adventure. I don’t think they’re going to find much in my brain. I’ll be in the hospital for a few days. Hopefully nothing will go wrong. I’ve got a great surgeon.”

Ross went on to say that the surgery had to be approved by his cardiologist. Then, he noted that he’s pushing for the brain surgery to happen in the next week or so.

“As a matter of fact, I had to go to a cardiologist today, heart doctor obviously, and talk to him about this upcoming procedure. He had to approve it or they wouldn’t do it, so he did. They’re going to do it soon. I just haven’t had a confirmed date set, but it’s going to be in the next week or so, I’m pushing for. Hey, look, it’s just an illness and I got to get it addressed. I couldn’t live my life the way it was. I’d forget shit and I just couldn’t remember things, it was horrible. I felt horrible. But that all started with me passing out in my house and being discovered there, which began almost a 40 day hospital stay. Let me tell you, that’s a long ass time. Those beds are small and lumpy, the food is predictable. Sometimes, the help doesn’t give a shit if you’re fit or not. I didn’t like it.”

Ross then revealed some specific details of the procedure.

“This procedure that I’m getting ready to have, I think it’s called a shunt. It’ll go from my brain — I don’t know where it’s all going to go but it’s going someplace to get that fluid off my brain that’s making me not remember stuff. It’s fairly serious. I always thought that anytime they open your skull up, it’s a serious piece of business. This certainly feels that way. I’ll get it done, a short hospital day, lint back home and heal up. That’s what I’m going to do, I’m gonna heal up.”
