Ken Anderson Says Kurt Angle Decided To Go 10 Minutes Over During Their TNA Lockdown Match

Ken Anderson recalls going 10 minutes over in his match against Kurt Angle in TNA.
At TNA Lockdown 2010, Ken Anderson and Kurt Angle faced each other inside the steel cage. They were originally supposed to have a 23-minute match, but were later told that their match was going to end sooner.
Speaking on Tagging in with Chris Harris, Anderson shared Kurt Angle’s reaction to this news. Angle wasn’t happy, and he decided to go over their allotted time.
“We were told that we had a pretty significant chunk of time, 23 minutes. That’s a good solid match time. So we have this all mapped out, and then on the day, Kurt [Angle] comes up to me at the building and he goes, ‘They cut our fucking match time. They’re shaving 10 minutes off our match time. I’m not happy about it.’ Then, he walked away from me. He came back to me a little while later and he goes, ‘Fuck it, we’re going 23, whatever. Don’t worry, I’ll take the heat for it.’ Now, you know that if you go 30 seconds over your time, you got some explaining to do, right? You’re in trouble. We’re talking about going like 10, 11, 12 minutes over our time. … D’Lo [Brown] was our producer, Slick was our referee. Whenever we were around them, we didn’t talk about doing our full routine so to speak. But when it was just us, it was like we’re just gonna go. I think you can see it in the match, at some point Slick comes up to us probably eight or nine minutes in and is like, ‘Okay, time to take it home baby.’ We just kept going. Then, we’re like a minute away from what’s supposed to be our finish. It’s funny because he was progressively getting more and more frantic like, ‘Guys, guys. They’re fucking telling me to go home.’ We just kept wrestling and kept doing our shit. Then he’s like, ‘Guys, they’re screaming in my ear.’ Kurt just goes, ‘Tell them to fuck off,’ which is funny because he didn’t have a two way. It’s not a two way conversation at that point.”
Later, Anderson says that nobody was mad at him after his match.
“We just did our thing. We went through. Nobody said a word to me when we got backstage. There wasn’t like a posse of people waiting there like, ‘You guys went fucking way over.’ It was like, you ever been told that if you’re going to be late, be really, really late? Instead of just being five minutes late. Because then you get heat. They’ll yell at you and they’ll cuss you out or whatever. But like, if you’re like hours late where they’re just thankful that you’re there. It was almost like that, that scenario.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Anderson recalled a conversation he had with Steve Austin over the phone, where he suggested that he leave WWE. Fans can read his comments here.
