Kenny Omega Defeats MJF To Win AEW World Championship On AEW Dynamite Beach Break

Kenny Omega is the new AEW World Champion.

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite was headlined by one of the company’s biggest TV matches of all time, as MJF defended the AEW World Championship against Kenny Omega. The stakes were high for the ‘Best Bout Machine’, as a loss would prevent him from challenging for the title ever again.

The finishing sequence of the match almost involved MJF’s Dynamite Diamond Ring, but Will Ospreay ran to the ring and took it away. This gave Omega an opportunity to hit Friedman with the title belt, but he decided against it. Taking advantage of his hesitation, MJF took out Omega with a lowblow and a title shot himself. Omega kicked out of the pinfall attempt at one.

Moments later, Omega pinned MJF after hitting him with three V-Triggers and a One Winged Angel.

With the loss, MJF’s third reign with the AEW World Championship comes to an end at the 46 day mark. He won the title back from Darby Allin at AEW Double Or Nothing in May.
