Kosei Fujita Challenging Aaron Wolf For NEVER Openweight Title At NJPW King Of Pro-Wrestling
Kosei Fujita is getting his shot at the NEVER Title.
New Japan Pro-Wrestling is on the road to the 2026 King of Pro-Wrestling event on October 12th at Ryōgoku Sumo Hall in Tokyo.
A new match has been added to the show lineup. Kosei Fujita will challenge Aaron Wolf for the NEVER Openweight Championship. NJPW sent out the following about the bout:
“October 12 sees NJPW’s annual autumn Ryogoku event at King of Pro-Wrestling. With Ryohei Oiwa already confirmed to challenge either Hirooki Goto or Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, now TMDK are involved in a second major title bout as Kosei Fujita will officially face Aaron Wolf with the NEVER Openweight title at stake.
What started as a war of words at the G1 semifinal night in August saw Fujita hurl ever more insulting verbal barbs at Wolf, leading to an enraged NEVER Champion engaging in a pull-apart brawl on September 9 in Korakuen. The next night’s main event saw Fujita rear back with a brutal skull-to-skull headbutt on Wolf before a massive deadlift German suplex saw the Best of the Super Jr. winner score the pinfall victory.
Fujita will be the first junior heavyweight since KUSHIDA in 2025 to challenge for NEVER gold and bids to be only the second junior heavyweight in history to win the title without moving weight divisions, the first being Will Ospreay in 2018. With a firm vow to reject convention and bring his style to the fore, can Fujita and Oiwa both paint Tokyo orange on October 12?”
