Lainey Reid Addresses Chelsea Green’s Injury: “The Remorse Is That I Didn’t Finish The Job”

Lainey Reid has no remorse for Chelsea Green.
On the post-SummerSlam edition of Friday Night SmackDown, the new WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green teamed with now-former Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton, and they challenged Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid) for the Women’s Tag Team Titles.
Fatal Influence came out on top, but during the bout, Green suffered a broken orbital bone. The following week, Green had an in-ring segment during which it appeared that she would have to relinquish the title right then, but SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis told her she had 30 days to get cleared or she would have to give up the belt.
Lainey Reid addressed Green’s injury on Busted Open and stated that the only remorse she has is that she did not finish the job.
“Well, apparently not enough,” Reid responded when asked what did she and Fallon Henley do to Chelsea Green. “Because she came back out Friday and maybe had the best segment of her career, so you’re welcome by the way… That moment doesn’t happen without Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley. Nonetheless, I’m a strong style wrestler. I think Fatal Influence in general is a strong style that people haven’t seen in years; I’ll say that, and so, if you’re not ready for the way that we’re coming, you might be in trouble.” Reid was asked if there’s any remorse, and she replied, “I feel like the only remorse I have is the fact that she still has a chance to compete with the title. The remorse is that I didn’t finish the job.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Reid opened up about the transition from NXT to the main roster. That can be read here.
