Mark Davis: Stadium Stampede Is A Very Integral Part Of AEW’s Identity

Mark Davis operates in the moment.

This year’s Double Or Nothing pay-per-view will feature the biggest Stadium Stampede match in history. Chris Jericho, The Hurt Syndicate, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and Jack Perry will take on the team of The Demand, Mark Davis, Andrade El Idolo, and The Dogs.

Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Mark Davis spoke about the stipulation’s importance to AEW and how he is planning on preparing for it.

“That’s a fantastic question that I don’t have a very astute answer to. I think when you look at Stadium Stampedes, they’re [a] very integral part of All Elite Wrestling’s identity. I think that the level, the caliber of talent on both teams, either side is just going to produce absolute fireworks no matter which way you’re looking. It’s like the largest Stadium Stampede match also—seven on seven. We’ve got some real big beefcakes in there. So I think for me, it’s just get a good night’s sleep, get loose, get limber and just get ready to go out there and cause some chaos and just be accepting of the fact that there’s probably going to be some calamity going on.”

Davis went on to say that he does his best work in the spur of the moment.

“For me, I think I do my best work just in the spur of the moment. Once I’m out there, just absolutely in the zone. That’s when it’s all just going to come to me. I’m just enjoying the few days of calm before the chaos.”

A bit later on in the interview, Mark Davis talked about his relationship with The Dogs and how he is grateful to have them on his Stadium Stampede team.

“It happens. It can happen when you’re in a squadron in New Japan, if you’re both on the opposing side of good; it falls to reason that at times you won’t really cross paths. You have your own issues with other little groups. But yeah, guys that I’ve known for a very long time since coming over from New Japan America and doing a lot of the Japanese excursions and I think they’re fantastic professional wrestlers. I think they’re going to do great things in AEW and I’m grateful to have them on my side for Stadium Stampede because I think we’re going to be able to cause some real damage together. I think we’ve already proved that. I think we proved that on Saturday. We proved it again on Wednesday and it’s just good to have a good, to have good hands on deck, you know? People that you can trust.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Davis talked about Aussie Open’s decision to sign with AEW in 2023. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
