Matt Hardy Says New Day Reached Out To Put Together A Match When The Hardys Were Working In NXT
The Hardys want to face off with some old foes in TNA.
Matt and Jeff are currently barreling towards a huge match at TNA Slammiversary, where they’ll face The System and The Righteous in a three-way ladder match for the TNA World Tag Team Championships.
Speaking with the Battleground podcast for a new interview, Jeff Hardy first talked about the possibility of facing Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods in TNA.
“The New Day could bring hopefully some Booty-Os. It would just be incredible, the thought of us and them outside of WWE is just very strange but cool. It’s cool to see people when they leave WWE and join other dimensions of pro wrestling and succeed. They would bring a lot man, they’re so animated and so talented and people love them. They can do it all, man. I would love to see that.”
Matt Hardy followed that up by saying the match could be a great Bound For Glory main event.
“That would be a match we’d love to have, no doubt about it. The Hardys versus the New Day, especially when the New Day kicked out Big E and Kofi/Xavier became bad guys, which is very unique for them. To have The Hardys as the good guys and the New Day as the villains, that would be a hell of a match. I’d love to see it. It’d be nice if we could grab that at TNA, it’d be a hell of a main event for Bound For Glory.”
Matt also revealed that the New Day reached out for a match when The Hardys were on a run in NXT.
“I’m not gonna lie, whenever we started going back and forth with WWE and worked some NXT and were NXT Tag Team Champions for a little while, the New Day had reached out and asked us about having a match on WWE programming and do a little program with them. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite work out.”
Fightful will update fans when more is known about Kofi and Xavier’s future in the world of wrestling.
