Penta Def. Ethan Page To Retain WWE Intercontinental Title At Saturday Night’s Main Event

The WWE Intercontinental Title remains in Penta’s possession.

The third match of the night at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23rd was Penta defending the Intercontinental Championship against Ethan Page.

Penta has been the champion since March, and the defense against Page was his seventh.

The backend of the bout saw Page expose two turnbuckles. While the referee was putting the pad back on one, Page pushed Penta into the other. The referee was late to the count because he was putting the pad back on the other exposed turnbuckle, and Penta kicked out of Page’s pin at two.

Penta would go on to shove Page into the remaining exposed buckle and then follow up with a Mexican Destroyer to pin Page and retain the championship.

Going into Saturday Night’s Main Event, our partners over at WrestleVotes tweeted the following about Page:

“On the day of the biggest WWE match of his career to date, it’s worth noting how well received Ethan Page has been internally since arriving in WWE back in 2024. A source once described Page as extremely respectful and detail-oriented behind the scenes, something that many feel has translated onto television throughout his time in NXT, AAA, and now Monday Night Raw.

Regardless of tonight’s outcome, those spoken to believe Page has positioned himself very well moving forward, especially considering how quickly he’s risen in a relatively short amount of time.”

Page’s résumé in WWE includes being an NXT Champion and North American Champion.
