R-Truth’s Son Told Him ‘It Was Worth It’ After Seeing The Love He Received When WWE Planned Not To Renew His Contract Last Year

During the Summer of 2025, it would be announced that Truth would not be continuing forward with WWE, as the company were not planning to renew his contract as it neared it’s expiration. This would lead to a swelling of support from WWE fans, leading to WWE renewing Truth’s contract. Since then, Truth has continued to be a valuable part of the WWE roster and is currently one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions on SmackDown.
While speaking to WittyWhittier in a new interview, R-Truth recalled the fan support last Summer, noting that his son told him ‘it was worth it’ when he saw it for himself.
“You can find no dictionary that could come up with the words that could express how that feels, and it goes back to your question when you said there are people that may be coming to these shows in Ottawa and London that have never been to a show, and that’s a good example of what you get to experience. It’s the loyalty. It’s the love. It’s the commitment. It’s the, man, that many, over 100 million people reacting, agreeing on one thing, coming together, just, we riot. It was, it was just so overwhelming, man, and it was like, I’ve never felt love like that before in my life. You know what I’m saying? I’m 54 years old, man, and I always sum it up with one thing my son said to me in the back, you know, when everything happened, and we looked and he saw all the numbers, man. He’s like, ‘dad, it was worth it.’ Just those words, man, it’s like, I’ve missed so many graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, deaths in my family, I’ve missed so much, but I’ve dedicated so much. That type of outpour, man, just the abundance of love that I was shown, man, would never, ever go unnoticed by me, and it just, when you say the people’s champ, that gave me that title right there and there, and I love the people for that.”
