Sammy Guevara has reflected on wrestling in the first ever match on AEW Dynamite in the show’s history back in 2019.
AEW Dynamite would premiere in October of 2019, kicking off the beginning of AEW’s weekly program and in the first ever match on the show, Sammy Guevara would take on Cody Rhodes in singles action, with Cody coming away with the victory.
In a new interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Sammy Guevara reflected on being involved in the first ever match on AEW Dynamite.
“I mean, it’s history. It’s something you dream about as a kid, like being in these big moments. It’s the first time they’re seeing wrestling on the TNT channel for what, 19 years at the time? The fact that like Cody Rhodes versus who, Sammy Guevara? Like, you know, exactly. I mean, that’s what I’m saying. But like at that time, you know, I did AAA, did some Lucha Underground, but like widely, nationally, maybe not as known. So, you know, the fact that I was given that opportunity was big and I just was very happy I was able to live up to the moment, you know?”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Sammy spoke about which TNT title reign was his favorite amongst his three reigns. You can read more about that here.
