Scott D’Amore Reflects On Rooming With Adam Copeland And Christian Cage
Scott D’Amore and Adam Copeland will reunite this weekend at MLP Northern Rising with D’Amore promoting the event and Copeland competing.
The two go back decades to when they were first breaking into the business in Canada, traveling and living together in search of their big break.
Speaking to Joel Pearl of Fightful and WORKING, D’Amore was asked about rooming with Copeland.
“Adam was a great roommate in most ways, and I hate to say it because I’d rather slag him. We had to drive 20+ hours to the Maritimes. We got an apartment out there; Christian ended up joining us days after we got out there. The three of us got an apartment. The thing that I was most pissed off about is that we had a two-bedroom apartment. Adam got the one-bedroom,” he said.
Asked if Copeland paid more since he got the solo bedroom, D’Amore laughed and said, “No, are you kidding? He got the one-bedroom. There was a rationale behind it; I don’t know that I agree, but I’m kind of glad because I didn’t know Christian that well, and rooming together, especially in the same room, you get to know people. Doing a 20+ car ride and 2000+ miles every day, seven shows a week, and every other Sunday we did a double shot. It was the three of us in my Jeep Cherokee, and we went up and down the roads. Back then, there is no GPS. It’s just reading maps, finding which diners are still open. Figuring out what hotels you can limp into and give them a sob story and get some kind of compassion. It’s not like Adam, Jay, and I get together and have dinner on a weekly basis; we can probably go months without talking, but we’ve stayed in touch, and [Adam] is a guy who has transcended wrestling and is a Hollywood star.”
Copeland will face Steve Maclin at MLP Northern Rising.
Elsewhere during the interview, D’Amore praised Copeland for how he promoted MLP. You can find his full comments here.
