Taylor Wilde Was Supposed To Win Knockouts World Title During TNA/IMPACT Comeback Run

Taylor Wilde was set to win the belt for a second time.

It was in 2021 that former TNA Knockouts Champion Taylor Wilde returned to then-IMPACT Wrestling. She had been away from wrestling since 2011.

Wilde guest-appeared on Deonna Purrazzo and Steve Maclin’s Boots 2 Boots podcast, and Purrazzo, who was the Knockouts Champion when Wilde returned, shared that Wilde was supposed to win the belt from her.

Purrazzo shared that without Scott D’Amore being aware, Lucha Libre AAA threw her into a title-versus-title bout that she would be winning and went on to become Reina de Reinas Champion. Purrazzo said the match against Wilde was supposed to happen at Slammiversary that year. At the 2021 Slammiversary, Purrazzo had a mystery opponent, and it was revealed to be Thunder Rosa. Wilde had no clue about any of these plans.

Purrazzo: “I remember — I don’t even know if we’ve talked about this beforehand. You were coming back and you were challenging me and I was also going to Mexico for AAA, and Mexico had sprung on me that it was gonna be the Reina de Reinas Title versus the Knockouts Championship and winner-take-all, and Scott (D’Amore) didn’t know that. So we’re working towards a program, me and you at Slammiversary, where you are going to become the Knockouts Champion and now AAA has put this stipulation on a match that no one agreed to, and I remember being like — to the writers — ‘Hey, I’m so happy to go to AAA and do this match but if you want Shantelle to win, by all means. She can go to Mexico and have that match.’ I don’t want to say I have to be the champion for this, because it threw a wrench in everyone’s plans and so, not to say that about myself as like, I’m such a good person but I think it was a really great example of the time and the space that the locker room had and the respect we had for each other, and respect for you coming in as a veteran in our locker room.”

Wilde: “I had no idea. Thanks, D. Appreciate you,” she laughed. “Oh my God.”

Wilde has not wrestled since 2023. During her last run, she captured the Knockouts World Tag Team Titles with KiLynn King.
