The Miz: I Don’t Mind Criticism, That’s Honestly What’s Revved Me Up For The Past 20 Years

The Miz says fan criticism has driven him for the past 20 years.
When The Miz first arrived on WWE television, there were a lot of doubters. Even backstage, many wrestlers didn’t treat him well. However, over the years, he has gained the respect of both his peers and the audience. There are still some fans who are critical of him, but the wrestler doesn’t mind the criticism.
During an interview with WrestleRant, The Miz shared his thoughts on fans criticizing him.
“I don’t mind criticism. As a matter of fact I encourage criticism, because it will make me better. Sometimes when a fan says something I’ll go, ‘Oh, that is interesting. That’s a good take on something, I understand that. I’ll learn from it. Or if someone’s just like you suck or I hate you or you don’t deserve to be here, I wish you were fired, this that… That puts a chip on my shoulder. That’s what’s honestly revved me up for the past 20 years. Hearing the negativity. I thrive on negativity. I thrive when I’m the underdog. Even though people don’t look at me as an underdog, I look at myself as the underdog always. So when I feel like I’m the underdog or I’m not being taken seriously, that’s when you get Talking Smack promos.”
In another interview, he discussed his daughter potentially becoming a wrestler. Fans can read his full comments here.
