Since joining AEW after leaving STARDOM in Japan last year, the AEW Women’s World Champion has had several changes throughout her time in the States. One big different in the US to Japan is she cannot attack or chastise referees like she would in Japan.
While speaking to Close-Up with Renee Paqeutte, Thekla spoke about big changes from her time in Japan.
“Oh, man. I don’t know. It’s like in Japan, I used to love shitting on the refs and just like if you get in my face… Like if you enter my like personal space, I’ll just grab you by the collar and shake you until you get out of my face, you know? So here they’re just like, ‘you can’t touch me. You’re going to get disqualified.’ It’s like, okay, Jesus, you know? So I used to like whip the shit out of the referees when they’re in my way. Well, I’m getting a little, I’m feeling the itch.”
