Tony Khan thinks the stadium could be a great wrestling venue.
Coming off the heels of the 2026 AEW All Out pay-per-view, the post-show media scrum took place, and while AEW President Tony Khan was on the podium, a reporter asked him about the possibility of Mexico getting a bigger AEW event to top Grand Slam.
Azteca Stadium was brought up, which is in Mexico City and has a capacity of roughly 80,000. Khan said he thinks the stadium would be a great wrestling venue.
“It’s a great venue. It’s absolutely been tremendous for the NFL and I think that it could be a great venue for wrestling someday. We also have a great partnership with CMLL and we’ve had a lot of success with Grand Slam Mexico. It’s now, two years in a row, one of the biggest episodes of Dynamite, and that’s huge for us…”
Grand Slam Mexico took place on August 5th, and the show was headlined by Will Ospreay defeating Mark Davis in a Mexico City Street Fight.
