Utami Hayashishita Thought She Would Catch Flak For Returning To STARDOM

Utami Hayashishita speaks about her return to STARDOM.

After several years as part of Dream Star Fighting Marigold, Utami Hayashishita opted to depart the promotion and return to where she was before Marigold, World Wonder Ring STARDOM.

STARDOM conducted an interview with Hayashishita and asked her about her comeback. She stated that she thought she would catch flak for returning.

“I thought I might feel more nostalgic or something like that, but there are so many new and unfamiliar things that I can’t get used to them at all. Right now, I’m just doing my absolute best to focus on the present.

I had so many mixed feelings (being back in a STARDOM ring)… I really wanted to stand in front of (Saya) Kamitani, but I was worried that people who support STARDOM right now wouldn’t know who I was, and that even if there were people who knew Utami Hayashishita, I’m sure there would be some who didn’t think highly of me, so I was worried I would get a lot of flak. I was nervous about standing in front of Kamitani, and the nervousness of standing in front of the fans was also huge.

When my entrance music started playing, there were already people who recognized me, and that made me feel relieved. I was so scared up until that point, so it was really reassuring that there were people who recognized me, and that when I came out I could hear people chanting ‘Utami…’ It felt like the fans were giving me a push from behind without even realizing it. I thought to myself, it was okay for me to come back here.”

Hayashishita is scheduled to be in a tag team match against former partner Saya Kamitani on June 20th.
