AAA Latin American Championship Vacated Following El Hijo del Vikingo’s Knee Surgery

The AAA Latin American Title is now vacant.

Dorian Roldán and Omos came out to the ring on the July 11th episode of Lucha Libre AAA on FOX. Roldán had the AAA Latin American Championship over his shoulder.

Roldán commented on the knee injury to El Hijo del Vikingo, for which he has since undergone surgery. He stated that Vikingo will be out for many, many weeks. Roldán blamed AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio for sending Vikingo to SmackDown and NXT. Vikingo suffered the injury while prepping for the NXT match.

Dorian stated that he’s suing Mysterio for negligence. Dorian then said he was naming the next AAA Latin American Champion and handed the belt over to Omos.

Out came Rey Mysterio, and he said he wishes the best for Vikingo, but Vikingo has always had injury issues. Mysterio then asked Omos for the belt, or Omos would be suspended. Omos shoved the belt into Mysterio’s chest.

Mysterio then said the title is vacant, and next week, there is going to be an announcement about how a new champion will be crowned. Before exiting the ring, Mysterio told Roldán that if he wanted to sue, Rey would see him in court.

A video message from Damian Priest aired after the segment, and he stated that he wants to be the next AAA Latin American Champion.
