Adam Cole: CM Punk Has Been A Major Influence On My Career, But We Won't Add Him To Undisputed Era

Don't expect CM Punk in Undisputed Era.

Though Adam Cole was front and center for CM Punk's return to WWE television (via Fox) on the Nov. 12 episode of WWE Backstage, he won't be looking to add "The Voice of the Voiceless" to Undisputed Era anytime soon.

“Everyone who has followed me knows that CM Punk has been a major influence of mine, especially on the independent scene. He was a guy I looked up to and studied, and someone I really, really enjoyed watching. It was so cool to be there and see him on Backstage, and I had no idea that was going to happen. The Undisputed Era, the four that we are, couldn’t get any better. We’re the flag-bearers of the NXT brand, and we are perfect the way we are. I wouldn’t add a male, I wouldn’t add a female, and we won’t add CM Punk," Cole told Sports Illustrated.

Cole has always turned away potential interest in adding a fifth member to Undisputed Era, though he has previously stated he would welcome Kevin Owens into the group. Those plans may have changed after NXT TakeOver: WarGames III when Owens joined Team Ciampa to battle Undisputed Era inside the double cage.

As for Punk, he has stated that he is not currently pursuing an in-ring return.
