Adam Cole's upcoming NXT Championship defense will open this week's episode of NXT.
WWE announced that Cole's match against Finn Balor will be the first match of the December 18 episode of NXT. In addition, the match will be presented commercial-free on the USA Network.

On December 11, Balor had won a triple threat match against Tommaso Ciampa and Keith Lee to become the No. 1 contender for Cole's NXT title. Balor is undefeated in on NXT programming ever since he returned to the black and gold brand, where he once reigned as the NXT Champion himself.
The December 18 episode of NXT also has an NXT Women's Championship match between Shayna Baszler and Rhea Ripley. Fightful will have live coverage of NXT with a post-show podcast to follow once NXT goes off the air.
Shortly after the NXT announcement, AEW announced Kenny Omega & Hangman Page vs. The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix) will open AEW Dynamite on Dec. 18. That match will also be presented commercial-free.
