Adam Copeland Says Darby Allin Brought Up His Flaming Table Spot When He Talked To Him About Crazy Bumps

Adam Copeland understands Darby Allin.

Allin has been living on the edge for his entire career, but his current reign with the AEW World Championship has raised the stakes even more. During his weekly title defenses, Allin has been taking bumps that the majority of wrestlers would never even think about taking.

Speaking with Westwood One Sports for a new interview, Copeland recalled pulling Allin aside and encouraging him to slow things down. In response, Allin joked about his famous flaming table spot with Mick Foley.

“So, we’ve had this conversation because I pulled him aside and I was like, ‘Hey man, you’ve only got so many of those.’ Man, he was like, ‘Oh yeah? Were you thinking that when you speared Foley through the flaming table?’ Touché, young man. Touché. I was like, ‘I can’t say anything. I get it.’”

Copeland went on to say that it can be tough to sweat people that are doing what they love.

“But there is a toll and there is no way around it. At the same time, you get somebody who is wired that way and it’s tough to talk him off that ledge. It really is. I know because I’ve been that guy. He’s out there doing what he loves and I don’t know, it’s tough to sweat people that are doing that.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Copeland talked about a possible backstage role in AEW after his retirement from the ring. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
