Adam Copeland: I Feel Like The Rated R WWE Championship Was Done Just To Sell Titles

Adam Copeland reflects on the Rated R WWE Championship.

The spinner version of the WWE Championship is a polarizing one for many wrestling fans, but there was also another version of the championship that isn't talked about as much. In 2006, Adam Copeland revealed the Rated R spinner WWE Championship that he would hold as champion.

While speaking to Insight with Chris Van Vliet in a recent interview, Copeland reflected on the title design, noting his belief that him having the title was truly done just to sell titles.

"I just, I don't know. Again, I think for me, I come from that, that, that timeframe where the designs meant something, you know, and I just, I understood the, the, you know, the commercial appeal. Um, but I, I feel like that was truly done just to sell titles and it worked and it worked, but I don't know. I just, as a world heavyweight champion, you walk out and there's something spinning on you. It just didn't, I don't know, to me, it just didn't fit."

Copeland is now signed to AEW, where he is the current AEW TNT Champion.

Elsewhere in the same interview, Copeland also reflected on almost signing with AEW in 2019. You can read more about that here.
