Adam Copeland: When More Than One Company Is Flourishing, That's A Positive For All Wrestlers

Adam Copeland comments on tribalism.

Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge, signed with AEW in October 2023. The WWE Hall of Famer has made it clear that he is having a lot of fun in AEW, and he has quickly become one of their top stars. The TNT Champion sparked some controversy with his promo on the April 3 episode of AEW Dynamite, which came in the aftermath of CM Punk's interview with Ariel Helwani in which he criticized the company. Copeland delivered a positive message about AEW and the way it has helped wrestling.

In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Copeland reflected on the promo and noted that people can be tribalistic with wrestling, but those in the industry want each other to succeed.

“People can be so negative. That’s people who are wrestling, and that’s also among our fan base. There are people who have this super rigid ‘I’ll only watch and celebrate this one thing.’ For us in the industry, it’s completely different. We want each other to succeed. It’s an awesome way to make a living, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a tough way, too. When more than one company is flourishing, that’s a positive for all wrestlers. But there is this strange outlier of fan who looks at things from a different perspective. So I wanted to address that, and I wanted our locker room to hear it, too," Copeland said.

Copeland previously commented on his promo by saying that he wanted to send a positive message.

In a recent interview, Copeland said that he has about a year and a half left in the ring. Check out his comments here.
