AEW And WBD Refute Claims Regarding WBD Sale And Future Decision Making

AEW and Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) refute claims.

A story was published by John McCullen, who cited claims from agent Nick LoPiccolo, that AEW was “given a heads up” regarding the sale of Warner Bros Discovery in order for the company to potentially “prepare a contingency plan” if new ownership went in a different direction.

AEW and Warner Bros Discovery have refuted those claims.

“Both AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery have refuted multiple industry sources’ claims that Warner Bros. Discovery informed Tony Khan and AEW in the summer of 2025 that the plan was for WBD to be sold and others would be making decisions on further programming.

“The idea by sources outside AEW that WBD CEO David Zaslav personally informed Khan that a sale was coming was vehemently denied, with the explanation that no showrunners were informed, including Khan.”

All Elite Wresting has a media rights deal with WBD through the end of 2027, with an option for 2028.
