AEW Dynamite (1/4) Preview: A New Era: Two Title Bouts, Jon Moxley, Hangman Page, And More

It's Wednesday, January, 4, 2023, and you know what that means!

It's time to break down tonight's AEW Dynamite on TBS. Here's everything you need to know about tonight's episode.

Solo Sikoa: 'The Butcher Of The Bloodline' Tama Tonga Will Win 2024 WWE King Of The Ring Tournament

A Very Volatile Tag Team Championship Situation

Everybody loves The Acclaimed… except for Jeff and Karen Jarrett.

After a very spicy rap from Max Caster uncovered some old wounds for Jeff Jarrett and his family, Jeff has promised that receipts will be coming in tonight's tag team match, and Anthony Bowens has promised to protect his partner at all costs. Also at stake tonight are the AEW World Tag Team Championship and if Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal can win the Championships, but tonight, it appears that personal issues mean just a bit more

The Latest On Hangman Page & Jon Moxley

Tonight, we will once again hear from Jon Moxley, who is on a collision course with Adam Page. Last week, Page I was told that he may be cleared for competition at next week's show in California, that all depends on whether or not he can avoid inciting physical confrontation. Both men will be in the building tonight and likely spoiling for a fight, so they may not be able to wait for next week.

Bryan Danielson vs. A Varsity Athlete

Tonight, Bryan Danielson will wrestle Tony Nese of the Varsity Athletes. Bryan Danielson is determined to get his hands on Maxwell Jacob Friedman, who is also contractually obligated to appear on the first episode of New Year. Whether or not Danielson will actually be able to get his hands on MJF remains to be seen but MJF's lawyer, Mark Sterling, is also the manager of Tony Nese and surely, Max has been in contact.

Infighting Among The Baddies

Tonight, Jade Cargill will team with Red Velvet against former Baddie, Kiera Hogan, and Skye Blue. Recently, Velvet has been displaying disgust with Cargill's actions, even stopping her from slapping Hogan on the most recent episode of Rampage. If they cannot get along tonight, perhaps this will be the chink in the armor that allows Jade to suffer her first loss, but the TBS Champion is not likely to go down without a fight, even if she has to fight her own partner.

Swerve Looks For The Killshot On AR Fox

Reliving their Lucha Underground rivalry, Swerve Strickland fights AR Fox tonight. A long way from the Lucha Temple, Strickland is now looking to build his group of affiliates by any means necessary and hoping to stomp out an old rival along the way.

Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Starks

Tonight, Chris Jericho faces Ricky Starks for the first time ever, and should Ricky Starks be able to win, this will be the biggest win of his career. However, Chris Jericho is on somewhat of a losing streak, after recently being upset by Action Andretti and following Ricky Starks' declining to align himself with the inaugural WWE Undisputed Champion, Jericho is looking to make an example out of Ricky Starks in what will be the beginning of a new era for Dynamite.

Samoa Joe Defends Against Darby Allin

Tonight, Samoa Joe will once again defend his TNT Championship against the daredevil that is Darby Allin. Darby is determined to win back the championship he once held so dear, but also appears to be struggling with confidence as he asked Sting whether or not he truly believes he can defeat Joe. Sting told his mentee to keep the chip on his shoulder and win his title back and tonight, that is what Allin intends to do.
