AEW Dynamite (2/8) Preview: Championship Fight Night, Danielson vs. RUSH, MJF vs. Takeshita, More

It's Wednesday, February 8, 2023, and you know what that means!

It's time to break down tonight's AEW Dynamite on TBS.

AJ Styles On Tama Tonga Coming To WWE: He's Earned The Chance To Be Here

Tonight's episode is dubbed "Championship Fight Night" and will feature Bryan Danielson against RUSH, The Acclaimed defending their gold, The Elite defending their Trios Championshipd, and more.

Here's everything you need to know before tonight's AEW Dynamite on TBS.

The Elite Defends Against Top Flight & AR FOX

The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega will defend their AEW World Trios Titles against Top Flight & AR Fox.

This pair of trios have a lot in common with one another. Both groupings have brother tag teams paired with an innovator in the wrestling space.

Dante Martin, Darius Martin, and AR Fox are looking to shock the world and etch their names in the history books. On the other hand, The Elite fought very hard for these Trios Titles and they're not about to give it all up so quickly.

In any case, this bout exemplifies Championship Fight Night and may very well prove to be one to remember.

The American Dragon vs. El Toro Blanco

Bryan Danielson has not lost a single match on his journey to make sure he faces MJF for the AEW World Championship in an hour-long Iron Man bout at AEW Revolution.

Tonight, it all comes down to this as Bryan Danielson wrestles a vicious and financially motivated RUSH in the match that should ensure his AEW World Championship opportunity on Sunday, March 5. While it may seem like RUSH is purely motivated by the multiple briefcases full of money handed to him by Maxwell Jacob Friedman, RUSH is also an honorable competitor.

Much like Danielson, RUSH is a former Ring of Honor World Champion. "El Toro Blanco" still desires to be seen at a top level and, with Danielson already injured, tonight could be his opportunity to get back into the championship mix.

"The American Dragon" once again has his back up against the wall in a must-win situation and winning is the only thing on his mind.

Takeshita vs. MJF

MJF wrestling on Dynamite was a rare occurrence even before he was World Champion. Upon winning the championship, Maxwell Jacob Friedman promised to wrestle only on his terms.

Tonight, he doesn't have that luxury.

MJF will go one-on-one with Konosuke Takeshita after weeks of tension between the two men. Takeshita is not only fighting for himself but for Bryan Danielson, a man Takeshita views as a mentor. Should Takeshita win, he will be guaranteed an AEW World Title shot. In any case, he will be able to ensure that MJF is not as fresh for his future match against Danielson as he would have hoped.

Undoubtedly, this will be Konosuke Takeshita's most important match in America to date.

Jamie Hayter Looks To Turn Back The Challenge Of The Bunny

Tonight, Jamie Hayter takes on The Bunny. Determined to prove that she is a fighting champion, Hayter accepted The Bunny's challenge for a Championship Eliminator Match.

Amid growing tensions in the women's locker room, as factions form between homegrown talent and major signees, Hayter and Bunny look to prove why the focus should be on the in-ring action in the women's division of AEW

The Acclaimed Look To Stand Their Ground Against Gold-Crazy Gunns

Max Caster and Anthony Bowens, The Acclaimed will once again defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship on television. This time, they will be facing their longstanding rivals, Austin and Colten Gunn.

The upcoming match should put a bow on this bitter dispute but Austin and Colten Gunn may have an ace up their sleeve if their manipulation of their father has worked as well as they wanted to, there's a chance Billy Gunn won't be where he normally is, in the corner of The Acclaimed.

The Garcia-Guevara Gauntlet

Tonight, Ricky Starks will run The Garcia-Guevara Gauntlet. This means that he will be testing himself against Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, Jake Hager, and either Daniel Garcia or Sammy Guevara. Ricky must successfully run the gauntlet in order to get another match with Chris Jericho and further establish dominance over the wrestling legend.

Ricky Starks is determined to run the gauntlet and put an end to the Jericho Appreciation Society at all costs.

In addition to all of that, AEW stars like Wardlow, Saraya, Toni Storm, Jade Cargill, and more are all waiting for their next opportunity to make a statement. The road to AEW Revolution is in the fast lane, and tonight, Championship Fight Night will be the next chapter in AEW history.
