AEW Dynamite (7/5/23) Preview: Tournament Action, Kenny Omega Returns, And More

It's Wednesday, July 5, 2023, and you know what that means!

It's time to break down the July 5 episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS.

Sam Adonis Shares Training Footage From A Few Months Ago With His Brother Corey Graves

This week's episode features a lot of tournament action in both the Owen Hart Foundation Cup Women's Tournament and the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament. Plus, we will hear from some of the top stars in AEW, and Kenny Omega is back in action.

Here's everything you need to know before tonight's episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS.

Kenny Omega Is Out For Vengeance Against Wheeler Yuta

Wheeler Yuta pinned Kenny Omega in the main event of AEW Double or Nothing 2023. This was, of course, not without a fair share of shenanigans. On July 5, Omega looks to avenge that loss as he takes on Wheeler Yuta one-on-one. This will also be Omega's first match since losing to Will Ospreay at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

On July 5, both of these men will be looking to make a statement. However, only one can come out on top.

Britt Baker & Ruby Soho Run It Back

Rescheduled from last week after Britt Baker was out with an illness, Britt Baker will take on Ruby Soho in the opening round of this year's Women's Owen Hart Foundation Memorial Cup Tournament in a rematch of what was the finals of last year's tournament

Much has changed since last year. This time, Ruby is a heel, aligned with Toni Storm and Saraya, and Baker is the babyface. On July 5, when these women step into the ring, fans will find out how that dynamic change affects the tournament.

Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament Matches

The Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament gets underway on July 5.

While it is already known that Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Adam Cole will be on the same team, it is not known who they will be facing in the first round. MJF has been doing his best to try to bond with Adam Cole, even if that means angering him during one of his live streams on Twitch.

In the other match in the tournament taking place on July 5, Orange Cassidy & Darby Allin take on the former AEW Tag Team Champions turned enemies, Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland. On paper Cassidy & Allin should have this match in the bag due to the fact that their opponents for the evening hate each other. However, Swerve In Our Glory may always try to put aside their differences in an effort to recapture gold as they have before.

In addition to this, both Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho will be addressing the fans. Moxley is currently preparing for Blood & Guts on July 19. On the other hand, Jericho is reeling after suffering a loss to Sting last week in the main event.
