AEW Star Reveals WWE Asked Him To Be A Performance Center Coach On Multiple Occasions

Sometimes in WWE, your biggest strength can be what you are able to provide for the future of the industry.

AEW star Shawn Spears runs the Flatbacks wrestling school in Florida with NXT Superstar Tyler Breeze. Spears? in-ring prowess has always been touted. When Cody Rhodes signed him to AEW, he spoke about Shawn Spears teaching him how to wrestle and called him ?a good hand,? a term that although carries the highest praise, can also be seen as a slight and led to the rivalry between Cody and Spears which culminated last August at AEW All Out.

Even in WWE, while his main roster run was less than stellar, the man formerly known as Tye Dillinger was so good inside of the squared Circle that he was repeatedly offered a spot at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida as a coach.

?[In WWE], we were relied on a lot to help younger talent. We enjoy helping younger talent. I was asked to be a coach on numerous occasions before I left,? Spears tells WrestleTalk?s Louis Dangoor in an interview alongside his business partner Tyler Breeze.

Recently, Shawn Spears revealed that even though he works for AEW, he still watches NXT weekly. Learn more at this link.
