AEW World Title Bout Official For 12/30 AEW Dynamite

Kenny Omega will make his first AEW World Title defense on the final show of 2020.

After defeating Joey Janela in the main event of Wednesday's Dynamite, Kenny Omega was confronted by his old friend PAC and his Death Triangle partners The Lucha Bros. PAC was there to write an injustice, saying that Omega may have won the title eliminator tournament to earn an AEW World Title shot, but he didn't beat the man he was scheduled to face in the semi-finals.

Omega defeated Penta El Zero M in the semi-finals, but he was supposed to face Rey Fenix, who won his first-round match against Penta. Unfortunately, Fenix suffered an injury in the match and Penta took his place against Omega.

Since Omega never beat Fenix, PAC thought it was only fair that Fenix got a crack at the AEW World Title. Tony Khan agreed, making the AEW World Title match between Omega and Fenix official for AEW Dynamite: New Year's Smash Night One on December 30.
