AIW Announces 'Go For Broke' Series To Debut On 4/8

Absolute Intense Wrestling is set to return with a new weekly series.

On the latest episode of AIW: The Card is Going to Change, AIW owner John Thorne announced a new series "Go For Broke" which will debut on April 8 on IWTV at 6 p.m. ET.

The Elite: We're Getting AEW Back To What It Was Supposed To Be

While the series will debut on Thursday, April 8, it will air weekly on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET.

The series will revolve around wrestlers trying to earn Biggins Bucks to enter the Chandler Biggins Memorial Tournament for the Chandler Biggins Memorial Cup. The winner of the tournament will receive a title at the AIW Champion of their choice. It is unknown when the tournament will begin, which in theory creates more incentive for wrestlers to earn more Biggins Bucks.

Thorne called the series "a reality TV show with a wrestling backdrop."

Thorne said he didn't want to just film matches at the school without a concept, which led to a long brainstorming session, and a lot of alcohol before the eventual concept was settled on.

Competitors were not announced for the series, but it was mentioned that wrestlers were volunteering to be part of the series. Fans will be able to tip wrestlers via CashApp or Venmo.

Thorne mentioned on the podcast that AIW was "sought after" to do a show during WrestleMania week with multiple locations set up for their return. Thorne noted it was "Cleveland or nothing" for AIW's live show return and didn't want to go into Tampa cold and without momentum.

It was also noted that AIW has eight weeks of programming planned, which will hopefully lead to the live return for the company. The shows are taped and fans will not be in attendance.

Fightful will continue to update fans on AIW's return plans as more information is known.
