AJ Styles And Andrade Almas Are Wrestling On Smackdown

The match is happening for the first time ever.

After his WWE Championship defense at Extreme Rules, AJ Styles has already been preparing for his next defense at Summerslam. In the video at the top of the page, he was interrupted while talking about his potential Summerslam opponent by Zelina Vega.

Vega told Styles that Andrade Almas is the man that deserves a shot at AJ Styles. The WWE Champion said he's willing to wrestle Almas on Smackdown this week to which Vega agreed.

Almas has not faced any wrestlers of AJ Styles' stature since coming to the main roster. He beat some local enhancement talents and then Sin Cara on two occasions including Extreme Rules.  Almas has only been in the ring one time with Styles which was in 2014 during the NJPW World Tag League and has never been in a singles match with Styles.

Smackdown General Manager Paige tweeted that the match will be the first match of this week's Smackdown.

As with every week, Fightful Wrestling will have live coverage, discussion and recapping podcast for Smackdown.
