AJ Styles Comments On Avery Styles Using The Spiral Tap

AJ Styles speaks on Avery Styles doing the spiral tap.
One of the moves that AJ Styles used to do back in the day was the spiral tap. He started using the move less and less and eventually lost it from his arsenal.
Speaking on The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, Styles talked about his son, Avery Styles, using the spiral tap in one of his matches.
“He did the spiral tap on this last match and the guy was super close. I’m like, ‘I don’t know if he’s going to be able to hit it. He pulled it off but I got to admit, I’ve had some ugly spiral taps in my day. So for comparing some of my ugly ones, definitely his was better. But we’ll see as time goes on how if his gets ugly because again, if you don’t use it, you lose it. I think there were so many times in there where I didn’t use it enough, I just lost it. Sometimes things got a little ugly. It’s a little scary of a move, but the fact that he was able to pull that off in such a short amount of space was pretty impressive.”
Styles then talked about Avery teaming up with CJ Gallows against The Good Brothers recently. They’re collectively known as The Sons of the Club. His co-host, Tony Giles, mentioned that many fans online have already made comments about them being Bullet Club 2.0. This was Styles’ response to that:
“Yeah. Calm down. They’re not. I mean, you got to think Gallows, Anderson, myself, the Young Bucks, Tama Tonga all these guys, we’ve been doing it for a while at that point. So we’re pretty polished. These guys are 19 year-old and they’re just figuring this whole wrestling thing out. Fale, who had trained in New Japan, had still been doing this a while. So, you had a group of guys that were good.”
Elsewhere in the podcast, Styles said that he’s taking over a coaching role at the Performance Center. Fans can read more about it here.
