AJ Styles: Now Is The Right Time To Retire So I Don’t Embarrass Myself
AJ Styles wrapped up his legendary career at WWE Royal Rumble, losing to Gunther in a match where his career was on the line.
On Monday’s WWE Raw, Styles made his retirement official, bidding goodbye to the audience and leaving his gloves in the ring.
Speaking on Raw Recap, Styles was asked why now is the right time to retire.
“Now is the right time to retire so I don’t make a fool out of myself, so I don’t embarrass myself. I’m on the verge of doing just that. It’s not easy, mind you, but it’s time,” he said.
Styles is 48 years old and made his in-ring debut in 1998.
On Raw, it was announced that Styles would be inducted into the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame.
Elsewhere during the interview, AJ Styles explained why he wanted to retire at Royal Rumble instead of WrestleMania. You can find his full comments here.
