AJ Styles On Grayson Waller’s NXT Promo: ‘I See Nothing Wrong With This. Some Of Those Digs Got People Hurt, But Just Know This Is Part Of The Show’
AJ Styles says there was nothing wrong with the Grayson Waller promo on NXT.
On the July 28 episode of NXT, Grayson Waller cut a promo where he took aim at Austin Theory (his former tag partner), TNA and NXT men’s roster, Cruz Montana, and more. Many people have shared their reactions to Waller’s promo, including John Cena.
Speaking on The AJ Styles Show, The Phenomenal One also discussed this promo.
“They’re saying it was another pipebomb if you will. Well, nothing wrong with that. I think he looks great. The promo’s great. I don’t know what’s going on the main roster but if you come back down to the NXT, cut a freaking great promo, have a great little storyline, I think that’s a good thing. It’s just for the time being. You’re talking to a guy who went and wrestle Grayson in NXT. So I see nothing wrong with this. I know some of those digs got some people hurt, I get it. They came back with some pretty good ones. But just know this is part of the show.”
Styles’ co-host, Tony Giles, mentions that wrestlers don’t just get a live mic to say what they want. Even with CM Punk’s pipebomb, Vince McMahon knew Punk was going to do it.
Styles agreed with it, saying, “We heard from Punk’s mouth that Vince McMahon said, ‘Get out there. I want to hear your grievances. I want to hear exactly what it is that’s bothering you and go.’ I think he even said he wrote some of it down. Vince knew what was going on. As much as we didn’t think you know he did, he did. It came across exactly the way they wanted it to.”
Grayson Waller is currently scheduled to face Cruz Montana on the August 11 edition of NXT in a number one contender’s match for the NXT Championship. Read more about the show’s lineup here.
