AJ Styles Recalls Being Part Of Randy Savage’s Last Match

Randy Savage competed in his last match at TNA Turning Point 2004, teaming with AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy to take on Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, & Jeff Jarrett.
Savage was late-arriving to the bout as he was taken out earlier in the night by Hall, Nash, & Jarrett. When he did arrive, he made sure to soak in the moment.
“He was supposed to run down, but he did his whole Macho Man turn around, walking down, brother. He was supposed to run down and save us, I think,” AJ Styles recalled of Savage’s entrance when speaking to Cody Rhodes on What Do You Want To Talk About? “It was comical because I remember that we’re all sitting around and going over the match, and Macho Man is there. I’m in there with these legends. I look at Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, and I’m like, ‘Woah, I’m in a match with these guys.’ Scott is trying to tell Macho Man what’s going on and every time he starts to talk, [Macho] will go ‘Ay brother,’ and he’d start talking to somebody else. Scott would try to continue. ‘Ay.’ Finally, Scott was like, ‘I’m not going to tell you this anymore. I was like, ‘Damn, they argue just like regular people,’ but to me they were these huge stars. It was just so funny to me. ‘Oh, they’re regular people.'”
Savage would unfortunately pass away in 2011.
Elsewhere during the interview, Styles explained why Cody kicked out of the burning hammer at one during their match. You can find his full comments here.
