AJ Styles Reflects On Match With Shinsuke Nakamura At WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event: “Very Similar To The Kind Of Match We Had At Wrestle Kingdom”

Styles thinks highly of his last match with Shinsuke.

The week before A.J. Styles’ final match, he wrestled at Saturday Night’s Main Event in a singles bout against Shinsuke Nakamura.

Styles looked back on that during his appearance on Talk’n Shop. He said it felt akin to what he and Nakamura did at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 10.

Styles brought up the feud he and Nakamura had in 2018 over the WWE Championship and said Nakamura hated that he had to keep hitting him with low blows.

“It’s definitely up there,” Styles agreed that his match against Shinsuke Nakamura from NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 10 is among his favorite matches. “But then we had that Saturday Night’s Main Event match… I felt that one. Very similar to the kind of match that we had at Wrestle Kingdom, and I was like, ‘Man, if we pull this off, this is gonna be freaking good…’ Styles continued, “He’d rather you guys forget about the nut shot feast that we had. He hated it. That (WrestleMania 34) was the first one. That was the first nut shot. He just hit nuts, you know? Luckily I had all my kids by then and so it didn’t matter.”

Styles is now helping out behind the scenes with NXT, EVOLVE and the WWE I.D. program. He is also assisting his son Avery as he kick-started his in-ring career.
