AJ Styles Wants To Go Out As The Guy People Remember, Not An Older Version

AJ Styles may have signed a new WWE contract in March 2019, but he knows he's closer to the end of his career than the beginning.

The 42-year-old Styles made his debut in 1998 and has wrestled all over the world, including NJPW, ROH, TNA/IMPACT, and of course WWE. Styles has been in WWE since 2016 and is a two-time WWE Champion and three-time United States Champion.

Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Styles was asked if he feels like he's near the end of his career. Styles answered, "I think I am. As you get older, you're like, 'where the freak did my energy go? Why don't I have that useless burst of energy?' You can see that start to deplete. I don't want to be an AJ Styles where they go, 'I wish he could still do that. He's really slow.' I don't want that. I want to be that AJ Styles that people will remember and go out that way. Will I be like I was when I was 25? There's no way. It's just not possible."

When Styles signed a new deal in 2019, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Styles remains a featured star on WWE Raw and is currently feuding with Randy Orton.
