At WrestleMania 36 in 2020, Styles would face off with The Undertaker in a cinematic match due to the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down original plans for the event. The pair’s match would go down as The Undertaker’s final bout, with the cinematic aspects being praised by fans.

While speaking to Sporf’s James Sweetnam in a new interview, AJ Styles would reflect on the bout with The Undertaker, noting that he wishes he could have faced off with ‘The Deadman’ sooner.

“Well, it was definitely different. It was something that we didn’t know was gonna happen until it did. So getting the Boneyard match built to look like the match that looked like it was pretty unbelievable. Man, to have the match with The Undertaker, his last match, and I wish we could have done it earlier because him and I, there was just something about our timing and everything that we had together. It was a recipe for a great match. We just got to do it in a cinematic way.”
