Alberto Del Rio Involved In Backstage Brawl At Wrestling Event, Addresses Situation

Alberto Del Rio (now El Patron) was reportedly involved in a backstage brawl at Arena Naucalpan in Juarez, Mexico this weekend, according to @Luchablog. Del Rio and Paige were in attendance for an IWRG show, ostensibly to watch his brother (who incidentally used to perform in NXT as Memo Montenegro) wrestle in the main event.

While backstage, local lucha star Alan Xtreme (Rafy of The Ninja Turtles) was in the vicinity and while it isn't clear exactly what happened to spark the altercation, many seem to believe that Del Rio thought Alan touched Paige. Punches were thrown and a brawl broke out, which spilled out of the locker room into a hallway connecting to a fan entrance way. Several fans witnessed what happened, which is how word spread so fast through social media. There has been no reporting yet on Del Rio's condition after the fight but Alan's face was said to be busted up. Fredo Esparza of Luchaworld reports that Alan, who is much smaller than Del Rio, is "in bad shape but stable condition" and that Alan even sent out a Facebook message, hoping the whole situation would blow over.

Del Rio was released from his WWE contract back in September and has since been taking independent bookings all over the world. He is scheduled to face Kurt Angle for WCPW in the UK on February 12, 2017. Paige is still under contract with WWE, coming off a 60 day suspension, and rehabbing a neck injury. Timetables vary for her return to the ring.

UPDATE: Alberto Del Rio has addressed the matter, implying that Alan eXtrem inappropriately touched Paige.
