Former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio has been suspended by the WWE.
According to WWE's own website, the Mexican superstar failed a WWE wellness tests and will be suspended for 30 days, starting tomorrow. This comes hot off of the heels of unconfirmed rumors that Triple H is upset with Alberto Del Rio for being a 'bad influence' on Del Rio's girlfriend, WWE Superstar Paige.
Del Rio returned to the WWE last fall after well over a year away from the company. Del Rio had become a hot commodity in the likes of AAA, Lucha Underground and Ring of Honor. After a return victory over John Cena, Del Rio was quickly pushed down the card, which finally culminated in losing to John Cena on this week's episode of Smackdown. Del Rio had also entertained offers from MMA and kickboxing companies during his time away from WWE. Del Rio's 2014 departure came when he allegedly slapped a WWE employee for making a racially charged statement.
It's been reported that Del Rio has an opt-out clause in his contract next month, and was not scheduled for this weekend's Summerslam show. You can see WWE's brief announcement below.
