Alberto El Patron will be working with AAA, but he passed up other major organizations.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports El Patron is set to debut in the main event of the October 2nd Heroes Inmortales show for AAA. According to the Observer, AAA was the only company that was willing to pay him $4,000 per appearance. Other wrestling promotions, like CMLL, were not open to matching the price.
ELITE had been offering big money to the former WWE Champion but with the limited capacity of Arena Naucalpan, where they are now running, it didn’t make financial sense. El Patron did say in the past that he is a fan of ELITE.
Because El Patron is now working dates for AAA, it indicates that he is not working with New Japan Pro Wrestling. NJPW is now working with CMLL and Ring of Honor in a new partnership deal, and had offered El Patron a deal with a schedule similar to what AJ Styles used to work before heading to WWE, with the understanding that he would work for CMLL as well. El Patron was not interested in spending too much time in Japan, and took the AAA offer instead.
In his post-WWE press conference, El Patron did say that he wanted to work in Mexico, but did not want to be exclusive to any one company as well as wanting to only work a limited amount of dates before retiring.
If they want Alberto, it will just be for dates," El Patron said. "I learned from my errors and will not return to being exclusive to any one person...There’s still two years left of wrestling before I retire. I’m not doing more than 60 dates all over the world. I won’t do any more."
