Aleister Black Gets NXT Title Shot Against Tommaso Ciampa At TakeOver: Phoenix, Updated Card

Title match set for TakeOver.

It's official, Aleister Black will get his long-awaited NXT Title rematch against Tommaso Ciampa at TakeOver: Phoenix. The bout was announced following tonight's episode of NXT. Ciampa defeated Black on the July 25 episode of NXT television after interference by Johnny Gargano backfired. A triple threat bout between Black, Gargano, and Ciampa was set for TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, but Black suffered a legitimate groin injury -- explained on television as a mystery attacker in the parking lot, which was later revealed to be Gargano -- which kept him out of the match.

Ciampa continued his feud with Gargano in Black's absence, ending their rivalry at TakeOver: Brooklyn IV in a Last Man Standing bout. Black's first match back on television was against Gargano at TakeOver: WarGames II. Black picked up the victory and absolved Gargano of his sins.

On Wednesday's episode of NXT, Black evoked his rematch clause, setting up the title tilt at TakeOver: Phoenix.

NXT TakeOver: Phoenix is scheduled for Jan. 26. Fightful will provide live coverage of the event. Here is a look at the announced card thus far:
