Alex Kane Confirms Fightful Select Report That MLW Contract Expires June 1st, Hoping To Land In Japan, NXT Or AEW

Japan, NXT or AEW is where Kane is looking to land next.

It was first reported by Fightful Select that it is a contract month for former MLW World Heavyweight Champion Alex Kane. It was noted in the report that Kane's MLW deal expires on June 1st and Kane has since confirmed that.

He guest appeared on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast and said his contract is up next month. He added that the door is open for him to go back, but MLW encouraged him to find greener pastures financially.

"My (MLW) contract is up on June 1st. So, yeah, not there long-term but I’ve been there for a long time… I’m gonna play the open market a little bit. I really had no choice. The door’s always open, but, ‘We want you to try, you know, make some real money.’ So, that’s what I’ma try to do… I’m looking any and everywhere. I’m getting what they call like a sizzle reel so it’s like promos and -- it’s like a highlight reel with promos included or maybe even soundbites included. So I’m getting one of those made. Once that’s complete, I will have something that I can actually send to the other companies and hopefully, somebody’s like, oh, this guy has a lot of promise. Let's spend some money."

He was asked where he sees himself in the next few years. Kane is hoping to land in either Japan, NXT or AEW. Kane mentioned that he thinks he would thrive in NXT.

"Man, I hope to be in either NXT or AEW. Because I would like to stay in the States. But, if not there, then doing a few tours of Japan. Any one of those options would be cool for me. I think I would thrive in NXT."

He went on to share that while speaking to Minoru Suzuki and Satoshi Kojima at MLW, they told him to get in contact with All Japan Pro Wrestling. Kane added that he has a contact for Pro Wrestling NOAH and would like one for New Japan as well.

"That would be cool (going to NJPW). I don’t have a contact for them just yet. But I was talking (Minoru) Suzuki and (Satoshi) Kojima and they told me to reach out to All Japan so, I’m gonna do that. I have a contact for NOAH so I’m gonna do that as well. But yeah, if I can find a contact for New Japan, I’ll definitely do that."

MLW's War Chamber event is premiering on June 7th. It was taped on May 10th and it'll feature Kane's last match in the organization before his deal expires.

He'll be in the War Chamber match alongside Mr. Thomas, Matthew Justice and Paul London to take on The Rogue Horsemen (Bobby Fish, Brett Ryan Gosselin, Brock Anderson & C.W. Anderson).
