Alex Windsor Recalls Wrestling Paige Before Her First WWE Run, ‘I Had To Sort Of Up My Game’

Alex Windsor recalls facing off with Saraya/Paige.

Before her first run with WWE under the Paige name, Saraya was a big name on the indie scene in Europe. She frequently shared the ring with Alex Windsor, who wrestled under the Liberty ring name at the time.

Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Windsor recalled the opportunities and how she was sheltered during her early days as a wrestler.

“[Honestly] yeah, with wrestling Saraya, I was very quite early into my wrestling career. So I think it was
more the nerves of knowing that she was going to be going to WWE soon. So it was sort of like, ‘Oh, my
God, she’s on her way now.’ So I had to sort of up my game. But I think the early years I had, I was quite
sheltered. I didn’t really leave Norwich a lot, but one person I did actually run into a lot was Will. He used
to do his back yarding. I was taught early on that back yarding isn’t real wrestling. It was very much
looked down upon. So when I saw the back yard that he was doing, I was like, ‘What is this? They’re
wrestling on mats? This isn’t wrestling.’ I’ve eaten my words there. So I’ve known Will for about 15, 16
years maybe. So we go way back.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Windsor spoke about the organic nature of the Brawling Birds. Check out her full comments here.
