On Tuesday's episode of WWE SmackDown Live, the first-round of the King of the Ring tournament came to a conclusion with the final two matches on the SmackDown side taking place. First, Ali scored a victory over Buddy Murphy as the former 205 Live standouts battled in a match that earned "this is awesome" chants. In the end, Ali put Murphy away with the 450 Splash.

Later in the night, Chad Gable scored a victory over Shelton Benjamin with a sunset roll-up in a rather short match.
